Today is the Day of Miracles

Written by Alexandria Irwin

“Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.” -I John 3:21-22

“Our hope is not just for heaven. It is also for this life,” Pastor Karns declared in a sermon entitled ‘God of Miracles’ on December 5, 2021. We at the Church of God firmly believe that miracles still happen! There are times when it feels like all hope is lost, but we can and should expect God to perform miracles for us.

Bodies have been healed of deadly diseases. Answers to prayer have come just in time, and did you know God is still saving souls from sin? This is the greatest miracle of all. No one knows more than the saved just how great it really is, and no cynic can take this away.

It’s our duty as Christians to remember these miracles and use them to claim more for our future. We are not to box God in with our doubt but simply give our problems to Him. His intervention is far above human logic which is why He has surprised us so many times.

We must ask with confidence, but with a meek and humble attitude, as the centurion did in Luke 7:7-10. “I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel,” Jesus exclaimed in verse 9. This man’s miracle was promptly performed.

How is your faith? Make it a goal to grow your confidence in God. Miracles didn’t stop when Jesus ascended into heaven. Think differently about your problems. It’s not necessary to solve the intricate puzzle of your dilemma yourself, though it may be tempting. Pray more, worry less.

It can really be that simple. A favorite worship song sung by the choir at the Church of God at Connoquenessing states “the day of miracles is the day you believe.”
