Humanity places high value on faithfulness. We like consistency, whether it be in our job and the income it provides, or in the brands that we frequently purchase. There is a certain measure of security in being able to go back time and time again and find the product or situation unchanged.
Similarly, we build relationships with individuals whom we consider faithful. We learn to depend on their predictable responses and can feel at ease knowing they will carry out tasks or responsibilities by doing a job well without taking short cuts or cutting corners.
We have that same expectation of our heavenly Father. For it is written in Micah 3:6, I AM the LORD, I change not…” We have trusted Him over and over through the ups and downs of life’s path and proven that He is “the same, yesterday, today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)
Consider this level of expectation from God’s point of view. He has given mankind every opportunity to be spiritually successful. We have the Bible for instruction, a wonderful congregation of believers to worship with and a God-called pastor to guide us along the way. Can the Lord count on you to be faithful to Him? Can He know without a doubt that you will remain unchanged in your convictions no matter what society’s moral ebb and flow may be?
Think back to the familiar story of Queen Esther. She was a brave young woman who rose to the challenge of saving her people from certain death. Her unshaken faith in God gave her the courage to face the trouble. Although she could be put to death for simply approaching the King without being summoned, she went forward with her petition. She was given favor which resulted in the salvation of the Jews.
Today, we must each carry that same testimony of faithfulness, speaking the Truth and shining God’s light in all that we do. Let it be said of us that we are “…steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord…” (I Corinthians 15:58) Let your life be known as faithful!
