When Jesus walked the earth, He did many incredible miracles. The dead were raised to life, demons were cast out of the hearts of men and dreadful diseases were healed. Imagine being an eyewitness to the awesome power of Jesus Christ during that time! To see the masses of men, women and children press their way to Him, not only to see Him but to get their needs met, would be amazing.
“And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him, and ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was. And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.” (Mark 6:54-56)
When Jesus died on the cross, His miracles did not end there. Conversely, His resurrection on the third day displayed the power of God unlike anything the people had witnessed before. There was no need for despair because Jesus had conquered death and mankind now had direct access to God. The prayers of man could now ascend to the throne in heaven and be answered for mortal man.
Although Jesus is not physically here for men to reach out and touch, His power has not changed. Hebrews 13:8 says “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Men and women are still being healed from all manner of ailments – whether a simple headache, the flu, COVID or cancer. Healing is a divine touch from God’s merciful hand. It is an unexplainable miracle when full health is restored to the one who has been terribly ill. Doctors are astounded when no trace of sickness is found, in spite of previous x-rays or test results that proved otherwise. Many are the testimonies in our congregation where definite illness or disease was present, yet through prayer, they were completely restored to normal.
Technology and research has caused medical science to rise to great levels in our society today. However, that knowledge cannot even begin to compete with the power of God. Our bodies are “fearfully and wonderfully made,” so the great Healer knows exactly what unique remedy will restore our health. He makes no mistakes and never misdiagnoses a problem. His “surgery” is guaranteed to be successful every time for every patient.
If you are not well and desire healing, the simple “prescription” is found in James 5:14-15.“Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
With faith, healing is within your reach! God always hears your request and will send the answer. Sometimes the result comes quickly and other times it takes a process of time. But have no doubt, God is moving.
No matter how long the affliction may last or how intense the pain may become, Jesus knows what you are going through, friend. The stripes He received on His back before going to the cross procured your healing. He will bring you through to the other side of your affliction victorious, just as He was a Victor. Dear reader, take courage for it is the Lord’s will for you to be healthy. “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” (III John 2)
