According to a new report from the Christian nonprofit Family Research Council, anti-Christian hostility in the United States has surged, with 436 incidents targeting churches in 2023 – more than double the number tracked in 2022 and over eight times as many as in 2018.
The Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony has been embroiled in controversy after featuring a “highly sexualized” LGBTQ-themed fashion show. Widely viewed as a parody of Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper, the organizers attempted to defend the drag queen-filled performance as a celebration of “diversity” and “tolerance.”
A woman wearing a crown was depicted as Jesus, surrounded by men in drag, one of whom had long, blonde hair and a beard. As the song “King” played loudly, this bearded man later danced suggestively down a catwalk in front of the Last Supper table, much like a stripper. Near the men in drag stood a young girl. While this was a worldwide event performed in another country, it speaks to the tone of many leading nations including our own.
We are in serious need of a change in this country. America must reconnect with the Judeo-Christian values that guided the development of our nation’s laws, and distance itself from the perverse actions that have plagued the country.
According to a recent survey from The Hill, around 69% of Independents, 62% of Republicans, and 27% of Democrats felt the United States was on the wrong track as of October of 2024.
This widespread dissatisfaction suggests a serious need for change in America. As our first President George Washington warned in his First Inaugural Address, “the propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.” In other words, how can we expect God’s blessings when we violate the divine commandments He has given us, such as the Ten Commandments?
The Great Awakening, a series of religious revivals that swept through colonial America in the 1730s-1760s, gave birth to American evangelical Christianity. The Great Awakening, as historian Thomas Kidd notes, gave birth to American evangelical Christianity. This series of religious revivals that spread across the land prior to the American Revolution sparked a significant social upheaval. The revivals emphasized that all people are born sinners, destined for hell without salvation. However, they also taught that anyone can be saved through confessing their sins to God and asking for His forgiveness.
But many years have passed and too many have once again forgotten God. America needs a rebirth in the form of a revival. She must plead for God’s mercy and abandon her wicked ways. In order for a real revival to start, true Christians must share the Gospel and their personal testimony. The only hope for America will come from Christian who to take the Gospel out into the communities that surround them.
The book of Acts begins with the early-morning church praying prior to the day of Pentecost. This prolonged prayer meeting resulted in 8,000 converts being saved in three days. As the Holy Spirit compelled the disciples of Jesus to pray often, Christians today need to put more into their experience. More zeal, more prayer, less excuses, less personal time. When Christians seek God more often, God will respond by revealing the direction we are to take. That could be “proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all openness and boldness, unhindered and unrestrained.” (Acts 28:30-31, Amplified Bible)
